Punjab engages NESPAK for engineering designs

ISLAMABAD: National Engineering Services Pakistan Limited (NESPAK), a premier Engineering and Consultancy Organization of the country has been engaged by Punjab Govt to provide engineering, design, project upgradation and consultancy support of the development projects having a total cost of Rs. 52.879 billion projects. These projects include irrigation system rehabilitation project, construction of Labour Colony Lahore, WASA Lahore's 32 schemes for reduction of stagnation period of rain water and repair plus renovation of roads in Murree and adjoining areas,said a press release on Wednesday. An agreement of extension in consultancy services for Mega Irrigation Project was signed by Abdul Samad Qureshi VP (NDP) Punjab NESPAK and Muhammad Younas Ansari, Provincial Coordinator Mega Irrigation Project of Irrigation and Power Department, Government of the Punjab in 2009. The project components include Irrigation Systems Rehabilitation Project (ISRP) in Punjab with a total outlay of Rs. 19.5 billion and Lining of Irrigation Channels at an estimated cost of Rs. 30 billion. The project spans over a period of six years. The scope of work includes design review, monitoring, reporting and construction supervision of bridges, fall structures/cross regulators, strengthening of banks, construction of side protection, concrete lining of channels, outlets and a number of other hydraulic structures. The Project is funded by Government of Pakistan under Public Sector Development Programme and is spread all over Punjab. Salman Taseer, Governor Punjab, inaugurated construction work at the Labour Colony, Defence Road, Lahore in 2009 at a ceremony attended by Abdul Rauf Khan, Secretary Department of Labour and Human Resources and Chairman Punjab Workers Welfare Board. MD-NESPAK along with M. Ilyas Malik, Vice President (A&P) Division Lahore and Mr. Manzoor Ahmad, Project Manger / Chief Architect (A&P) Lahore were also present. The Project being developed by the Punjab Workers Welfare Board envisages the construction of 1,296 apartments for the labourers of various industries situated in the vicinity of Defence Road. A 25-bed hospital, modern high schools for boys and girls, a community centre, a women's industrial home, a mosque and shopping area are part of the project costing Rs. 2.17 billion. NESPAK has been also been awarded construction supervision of special repairs/patching/renovation of the following roads in Murree area including Rawalpindi-Murree-Kashmir Road (Section 17 Mile to Lower Tops), Bansra Gali Bye Pass Road, Lawrence College-Jhika Gali Bye Pass Road and Kohala Bridle Road (Section Jhika Gali to Bhurban). Estimated cost of the project is Rs. 34 million and total length of roads is 60 km.
